Weaving History Into A Hotel

Weaving History Into A Hotel

Hotel Enschede, Enschede

concept and creative direction

The project started with creation of a distinct concept which in turn required hands on creative direction for a newly build hotel on the outskirts of the Dutch city of Enschede. The city’s industrial past of textile weaving became the principal guide in conceptualising the scheme, the colours, the textures, material and the historic/social character of the town helped develop a unique hotel, inviting and warm. All custom made wallpapers were developed together with Katarina Stupavska, who also created artworks for all the rooms, restaurant, standard rooms, suites and apartments. Unique themes and atmospheres are extended to other areas such as pool, wellness, fitness and board- and meeting rooms. Judging by the enthusiasm of guests and visitors, this hotel is on the way to become a landmark in Enschede. The hotel’s well-executed overall concept and design, earned it a nomination for ’Best Hotel Design’ category in 2016 by Entree magazine.
